Mine Mirror

Public artwork • Las Cruces, USA • Completion 2020

Mine Mirror is a site-specific installation in the Computer Lab of the Hardman and Jacobs Undergraduate Learning Center at the New Mexico State University, comprising a three-dimensional arrangement of mirror plates and a text wall. The University's knowledge, the digital archive, uploaded by the students and stored on hard drives, was transformed into mirror elements using urban mining and vacuum evaporation, a process used for producing telescopic mirrors. The monitor-sized, metal-coated plates are arranged in different angles so that the users of the Computer Lab can see each other in the reflections of the mirrors. As an echo, the file names of the submitted digital content fill an endless list on a monumental text wall in the building's atrium. • In collaboration with Sarah Ancelle Schönfeld
